Bring all your Apple Notes into HeyBrainey

Steps

1. Sign in and open Apple Notes in the app. Your email address has to be verified first.
2. Copy the command shown there, paste it into Terminal on your Mac and press Return. It works once, for 15 minutes.
3. When macOS asks to let Terminal use Notes, choose Allow. It may ask once more for the background sync.
4. Close Terminal when the command is done. The import goes on in the background, and Apple Notes in the app shows how far it is. A few thousand notes take a few hours; sleep, restarts and lost connections only pause it.

Good to know

• Each folder in Apple Notes becomes a folder in your brain. Imported notes are not locked, so your AIs can read them at once. Lock a note in HeyBrainey to keep it from every AI.
• New and changed notes follow every 10 minutes, and moving a note moves it here too. Deleting a note in Apple Notes never deletes it in HeyBrainey.
• Some things stay behind, and the app counts them: notes locked with a password in Apple Notes, which can't be read, and attachments other than images, such as PDFs, which leave a line saying so. Recently Deleted stays out too. Images count against your space: 1 GB on Free, 10 GB on Pro.
• Importing never changes anything in Apple Notes. If you also want your HeyBrainey notes copied into Apple Notes, turn that on per Mac in the app: they go into a folder called HeyBrainey, which is left out of the import.
• The command holds a one-time code, not your token. The token goes straight into your Keychain, and Connected Macs in the app lists each Mac with a way to revoke it.
• Your AI saves when you ask it to. It does not capture anything by itself.
